This is just a Thought...

To be frank, I am not a fan of Korea Wave especially their music but I cannot say the same with their series (drama) and variety show.  I can proudly say that I’m in love with Korea drama and variety show.  Having this said, I’m not addicted to it or consider myself as a fanatic.  Each week, I just spent 6 – 10 hours watching them.  I am writing this to share my view regarding the booing episode during Shout Awards recently.
Even it is quite late for me to share my view (I really feel so), when I heard a band comment on it I quickly feel a rush of shame as I watch the award show recently.  As the band state their innocence but arrogance stand on how they denied the claim that they shouldn’t be blamed for the booing incidence because they said “all the rock fans, be aware/beware of the last act of the night by the Korea based boy band called Nu’est” (sorry if I misspelled, I really don’t know how to spell it and I’m ignorance enough not to look for the right spelling).  They denied that they are the catalyst of that booing incidence.  To prove this we have to deduct whether the booing incidence will still be happening if they not making that statement when they receive that awards.  I honestly think the booing incidence will still happened whether they make that speech or not due to the haters which comes from our singer/actor comments on the foreign performer.  However whether the statement is appropriate to be said when you received or normally said when you receive an award is a whole different thing.
The usual speech we heard when somebody received an award is how they thankful for the award, thanks the fans, the award show, thanks the producer, family, etc or sometimes maybe gave their fans a highlight of their recent activity which be still related to them.  Randomly making a statement of other people is definitely rare because it is not related to your winning.  Yeah, some might comment on Katrina, Palestine or Sandy which is a national concern, but sharing a personal concern is rarely happened.  Even they claimed that they their indirect criticism represent the nationwide performer, the Shout awards is not the stage for them to say that and trust me, that comment won’t do anything good to anyone and someone said to me, if you have nothing good to say, just be quite.  The only thing that they got from the incidence is being accused as the one that cause that booing incidence and sympathy for the Korean boy band as for booing incidence (I honestly can’t imagine what is like to be boo, I sympathized them).
Just now, I heard their comment on Melodi, despite their arrogance tone; I do feel what they said and at some point I know they are right.  I do feel that we as a Malaysian are more open to accept foreign things which in my opinion are great.  It help us on be able to adapt on something new.  So, for some of us to enjoy KPop is not something new.  But we still have to have a sense of loving our root or culture.  If only if there is one thing that I don’t like about the foreign music is the foreign culture that they bring along which make our own culture diminish from the core.  Culture is something that make us ‘us’.  Without them we will be no longer unique and this uniqueness is something that draws other people to us and from that we can influence other to us and from influence comes power.  As we apply this to the discussed issue, booing, being rude, arrogance is definitely not our culture.  The band also claim that the KPoP fans mind as being polluted.  That is really not a cute word to be used as a public figured as they just launched their new album to a potential buyer.  Come on guys, are better than this.  I know they will say in their defense that they are many other people who will buy their album, but still like I said, they just influenced a potential buyer not to buy regardless of how many fans you got.  I have a friend who loves both this particular band and KPoP, I wonder on which side she will be.
I am tired when the singer/dramatist/actor complaining that they are not given enough chances to do what they should be doing in their own country and put the blame totally at the foreign artist.  Stop complaining, do something about it.  Start within yourself.  I really hate when they critique other people works when they realized how hard to produce an album or a film or drama.  When we buy a foreign album or go and watch foreign film or drama, stops claiming that your product is better than the foreign product.  Remember, the audience is one of the indicators on how good your products are.  If your product is better that the foreign product, it is still not for you to say it out loud while belittling other people’s product.  If you did this, you will sound pathetic and desperate.  Please act accordingly.  I mean you attitude, even if you are not a public figure people will still not like you if you are rude and arrogance.  It’s a nature for a person to like a humble, kind, likeable, and good person no matter what you are doing especially as a public figure and please be careful of what you said and stop condemning foreign stars.
If you look carefully, there must be something that this worldwide people see in the stars so they can be a worldwide stars (I’m not saying DIVXX or Nu’est is worldwide stars, Im saying somebody like Beyonce, Super Junior etc) find this X-factor and adapt it.  In order this; we have to remove our prejudice, egoism and the attitude that we are better than others.  Just them we will see what are good on others.
Something else that you could do is if you don’t like something don’t make it personal.  For example if you don’t like the performer, don’t attack the performer, attack the organizer.  Or are you afraid that you will ban by the organizer.  If you are afraid don’t do it alone, do it via your association.  After all, that is what association for.  However, in the Shout Award case, I personally don’t think inviting two Korean boy bans is too much.  Majority of the performers that night were local acts.  However, how much they receive as a payment after deducting all the cost is a different problem.  They shouldn’t receive payment that is too much different than the local acts performed that night and the treatment they received as a performer should be as equal.
My next suggestion my sound too student-ish but in this case, I do feel it will helps.  Despite or organizing too many awards, maybe a convention should be held to discuss matter like how many percent of the foreign performer or film should be allowed to enter Malaysia or whatever.  This is a lot better than condemning it openly on the national TV.  Other than the discussion about the foreign entertainer, I do think the frequency or number of reality TV should be limited to a certain numbers.  If we keep making a reality show, the reality show will end up just a reality show without any talents produced and the industry will be flooded with the best from the untalented.  If we don’t want to limit the number of the talent show, we might be able to limit the frequency or the shows aired on TV, maybe we can do let say Vokal for once every two years so that the talent that come out from the show will be better and the impact of the show might be greater as well since the fans have to wait for 2 years for the show.  Please don’t compare Malaysia with US.  US is a very big country, so they never have a problem with the overload of the stars unlike here in Malaysia, we are staying in a very small country.  This might be the issues that might be discussed.  When I said the entertainer convention, it wont be effective if it just involve the entertainer from A association.  It should comprise entertainer from A association until Z association and without any personal gains.  If we are really serious on any matter, we really should consider this.  I mean having a convention.
I might have babbling too much, but what I said here is from my view based on my small observation.  I am not Mr. know it all, what I said might be right and might be wrong, might be hurtful for someone and for that I am truly sorry.  I just hope for the best for everybody and after 24 years of living, I do realize that we are our own victim.
p/s:  I am glad of Yuna making her own way in US.  As a fan, I don’t know how I will feel if she was booed by her audience in US.  After all she is trying to get her music reach Americans.  I hope she won’t get booed as DIVXX or Nu’est here.
